Our story

Path to Change Counseling Center was established in December of 2023 by Dr. Roger Giovino. When this journey began, it was a practice of just one—a single therapist with a simple belief:

People deserve more from therapy.

More than someone quietly nodding while they struggle to figure things out on their own.

More than feeling like just another appointment on the schedule.

More than spending their hard-earned money and walking away wondering if anything is really changing.

People deserve a therapist who is authentic. A therapist who is present. A therapist who is invested in their growth and willing to walk beside them through life's most difficult moments.

Throughout my career, I've seen incredible therapists change lives. But I've also seen people leave therapy feeling unheard, misunderstood, or wondering if therapy was really meant to help them grow. I've seen people searching for answers only to leave therapy feeling more alone than when they started.

It made me ask an important question:

Why should anyone settle for therapy that leaves them feeling unheard?

Why should people spend years struggling alone, wondering if change is even possible?

Why should someone trust a therapist with their deepest fears, greatest pain, and most vulnerable moments—only to walk away feeling like just another appointment on the schedule?

They shouldn't.

People deserve a therapist who shows up fully.

A therapist who is authentic.

A therapist who listens, challenges, teaches, and genuinely cares.

A therapist who doesn't just help them survive—but helps them build a life worth living.

That belief became Path to Change Counseling Center.

Why Path to Change Counseling?

I chose the name Path to Change because life is full of paths.

Some paths lead us toward healing, growth, and the life we want to live.

Others keep us stuck—trapped in old patterns, painful experiences, fear, or the belief that things will never get better.

The difficult truth is that the paths that keep us stuck often feel familiar. Sometimes they even feel easier. The path to healing is rarely straight, and it isn't always clear. It takes courage to face hard truths, challenge old beliefs, and choose a different direction.

But the hardest paths often lead to the most meaningful change.

At Path to Change Counseling Center, we are committed to helping you find that path.

A path that moves you forward.

A path that aligns with your values.

A path that leads to healing, growth, and lasting change.

Because everyone deserves a path forward—and we're committed to helping you find yours.

Why Our Focus on Trauma, PTSD, and LGBTQIA+ & Gender Affirming Care?

At Path to Change Counseling Center, we understand that our experiences shape the way we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. For many people, trauma, discrimination, rejection, or painful life experiences can leave lasting wounds that continue to affect relationships, self-esteem, and daily life long after the event itself has passed.

We chose to focus on trauma, PTSD, and LGBTQIA+ and gender affirming care because these are communities and experiences that have too often been misunderstood, minimized, or met with judgment rather than compassion and understanding.

We believe trauma is not something you simply "get over." Healing takes time, courage, and the right support.

We believe every person deserves to be seen for who they are, not who others expect them to be.

And we believe therapy should be a place where you feel safe enough to be honest, explore your experiences, and grow into the person you want to become.

Our therapists are trained in evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches designed to help clients process painful experiences, build resilience, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change. We are committed to providing affirming care that respects your identity, honors your experiences, and recognizes the unique strengths you bring to therapy.
