Licensed Professional Counselor Associate

Mr. Jay Edwards, M.S.

Jay Edwards is a Licensed Professional Counselor – Associate who is passionate about helping children, teens, young adults, and families navigate life’s challenges and move toward healing, clarity, and growth. He holds a Master’s degree in Counseling and Development from Texas Woman’s University and is currently practicing under the supervision of Dr. Roger Giovino, Psy.D., and Dr. Lisa Grubbs, LPC-S.

Jay has received hands-on training and experience in both private practice and school-based settings, where he’s worked with clients from all walks of life. His approach to therapy is warm, relational, and grounded in the belief that every person deserves a space where they feel safe enough to be their true self. Whether your child is struggling with emotional outbursts, your teen is feeling anxious or disconnected, or you’re a young adult facing life transitions—Jay meets each person with care, curiosity, and compassion.

He supports clients dealing with a wide range of concerns, including:

Anxiety and stress

Depression and low mood

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Obsessive-compulsive Disorder

Difficulties with emotional regulation

Family conflict or parent-child relationship issues

Past experiences of abuse or neglect

Jay’s therapeutic style is rooted in client-centered therapy, which means that building a strong, trusting relationship is always the starting point. From there, he tailors treatment to fit each client’s unique needs—drawing from approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and play therapy techniques for younger children. He believes that healing doesn’t come from giving advice, but from helping people understand themselves more fully and discover new ways of relating to their thoughts, feelings, and the world around them.

Clients describe Jay as genuine, calm, and approachable. In every session, he brings a strong sense of integrity and kindness, helping clients feel comfortable exploring even the most difficult emotions or experiences. Jay also enjoys learning about the things that make each client unique—whether it’s a hobby, a dream, or a small victory from their week—and he uses those moments to help people reconnect with joy and self-worth.

Before becoming a counselor, Jay spent nearly ten years as a swimming instructor, working with people of all ages. That experience taught him the power of patience, trust, and encouragement—qualities that now shape his approach to therapy.

If you’re looking for a therapist who will meet you or your child with compassion, respect, and a deep commitment to growth, Jay would be honored to support your journey.
