What Is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help people process traumatic memories and other distressing life experiences that may be keeping them stuck. Through guided bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, EMDR helps the brain reprocess painful experiences so they no longer feel as overwhelming or continue to impact your daily life in the same way.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require you to repeatedly retell every detail of your experiences. Instead, it helps your brain naturally heal and reorganize difficult memories, allowing you to move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and peace.
What Is EMDR Used For?
EMDR was originally developed to treat trauma and PTSD, but research has shown it can be effective for many other concerns as well, including:
At Path to Change Counseling Center, we use EMDR as part of a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique experiences, helping you heal from the past and create meaningful, lasting change.
